The Denza B8 is a premium three-row body-on-frame plug-in hybrid SUV combining genuine off-road hardware with BYD’s DMO Super Hybrid system and Denza’s advanced DiSus-P hydraulic suspension.

Malaysia receives two fully imported variants – the Dynamic 7-seater at RM458,800 and the Premium 6-seater at RM518,800. Including registration and other on-the-road charges without insurance, prices are approximately RM459,939 and RM519,939 respectively.

Both variants use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and dual electric motors, producing a combined 450 KW (603 HP) and 760 NM. A 36.8 KWH Blade LFP battery provides 115 KM NEDC pure-electric range, while total petrol-electric range reaches 1,040 KM NEDC.

The cabin combines a 12.3-INCH fully digital instrument display with a large 17.3-INCH central infotainment touchscreen.

A panoramic sunroof and multicolour ambient lighting contribute to the luxury-oriented presentation.

The Premium additionally receives a Head-Up Display, while the Dynamic does not.

The centre console incorporates a powered gear selector that rises when the vehicle is started.

Two 50 W ventilated wireless smartphone chargers are positioned within the console area.

Both variants include keyless entry and start, soft-close doors, powered windows, automatic wipers and a panoramic sunroof with powered blind.

The side-hinged rear tailgate remains manually operated, reflecting the B8’s traditional off-road design.

The dual-temperature refrigerator, electrically adjustable seats and twin 50 W wireless chargers add considerable everyday convenience.

The B8 features tri-zone automatic climate control.

Dedicated rear air-conditioning outlets serve both the second and third seating rows.

Rear passengers therefore receive direct airflow rather than relying solely on the front climate system.

The B8 uses double-wishbone independent suspension at both the front and rear.

Its standout feature is the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, which continuously adjusts ride height, damping and body control according to road conditions.

Suspension travel allows approximately 140 MM of height adjustment.

At maximum height, approach and departure angles increase to approximately 34 and 35 degrees, while maximum water-wading depth rises from 800 MM to 890 MM.

The plug-in hybrid system allows the B8 to operate silently on electric power during urban driving.

Acoustic glass, extensive cabin insulation and the heavy body structure help suppress wind and road noise.

The result is a considerably quieter environment than its body-on-frame and off-road-focused construction might suggest.

The Denza B8 combines serious off-road engineering with luxury-SUV comfort and one of the most powerful plug-in hybrid systems offered in Malaysia.

Both variants deliver 603 HP and 760 NM, allowing the three-tonne SUV to reach 100 KM/H in only 4.8 seconds, while the 36.8 KWH Blade Battery provides around 100 KM WLTP electric range.

The RM458,800 Dynamic offers the stronger value proposition, retaining the same drivetrain, DiSus-P suspension, 120 KW DC charging, Devialet audio and comprehensive ADAS while providing seven seats.

The RM518,800 Premium focuses more heavily on luxury and off-road capability, adding six-seat captain-chair accommodation, Nappa leather, second-row massage and Ottomans, Head-Up Display, digital rear-view mirror, infrared night vision and front and rear locking differentials.

Its main compromises are sheer size, a 3,305 KG kerb weight, limited 147 L boot capacity with all seats occupied and a price that places it firmly against established European and Japanese luxury SUVs.

However, few rivals combine body-on-frame construction, 890 MM wading capability, 120 KW PHEV DC charging, 100 KM WLTP EV range and 603 HP performance in the same package.
