National carmaker Proton provided some updates on its sales performance for the year of 2023 at its annual Chinese New Year press appreciation event held this week. As we have previously reported, Proton’s export to Brunei surged by 87% in 2023, marking an excellent year for the company.
There is more to it than that. Proton reports sales of 154,611 units, including export and domestic sales. This represents a 22% increase over the previous year and is Proton's best sales performance since 2012. With 70,184 sold nationwide, Saga is once again the best-selling model in Malaysia.

Proton has successfully maintained its position as the nation's second-largest automotive brand with those remarkable numbers.
Moving up to the second place as the best-selling Proton model is the Proton X50 sports utility vehicle (SUV). With 31,829 units sold, the car is a well-liked option among Malaysians for its roomy interior and rugged exterior. web_CariCarz_Review_Proton-X50-1.5-TGDi-Flagship_-2.jpg
