BP's EV charging division, BP pulse, is making headlines with its $100 million deal to acquire ultra-fast charging hardware units from Tesla. This strategic investment will serve a dual purpose: expanding the reach of the bp pulse public network across the United States and providing essential support for EV fleet customers through the deployment of chargers at their private depots.

What makes this partnership particularly noteworthy is that it marks the first instance of Tesla hardware being procured for an independent EV charging network. The planned rollout is scheduled to commence in 2024, covering crucial sites associated with the BP family of brands. Furthermore, Tesla's ultra-fast chargers, boasting an impressive 250 kW output, will be prominently featured and operated by bp pulse.

These chargers will be equipped with Tesla's 'Magic Dock,' designed to be compatible with both the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors. This compatibility allows EVs from various major vehicle manufacturers to utilise Tesla chargers within the BP pulse network, regardless of their charging port standards.

Tesla chargers will simplify and automate the payment process by supporting the Plug and Charge protocol, which aims to improve user experience. Furthermore, Tesla's quick and dependable chargers will work with bp pulse's intelligent charge management app, Omega, to create a holistic solution for EV fleets. This will enable BP pulse to supervise the entire charging process for these clients.

Beyond the collaboration with Tesla, BP pulse has ambitious plans to continue deploying additional fast and dependable charging points at high-demand locations. These include airports, major metropolitan areas, and properties owned by BP, strategically positioned along Alternative Fueling Corridors. This development aligns with the broader efforts of bp pulse to contribute to the growth of EV infrastructure in the United States, making it more accessible and convenient for EV users.

In summary, this partnership between BP pulse and Tesla signifies a significant step forward in the EV charging industry, combining cutting-edge technology with a commitment to facilitating the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
